Throne and Liberty – Butcher’s Canyon Dungeon Guide

To defeat Duke Magna in Butcher’s Canyon, a key boss encounter in Throne and Liberty (TL), teamwork and precision are essential. Players must avoid his powerful eye beam attack by staying close to him and carefully maneuvering around his rings of flames. Below is a detailed guide that includes a full walkthrough, tips for defeating Duke Magna, and the potential rewards for completing this challenging dungeon.

Table of Contents

  • Required Level: 50
  • Type: 1-Star Dimensional Circle
  • Minimum Combat Power: 1600

This dungeon pits players against the orc Duke Magna, a refined version of King Verte. Despite being smaller, Duke Magna possesses powerful dark magic and is a formidable foe.

Duke Magna Overview

  • Type: Humanoid
  • Passive Ability: Blood Rush – Increases maximum health (HP) significantly.

Duke Magna’s fight is defined by two major mechanics involving rings of flame and shapeshifters. Managing these effectively is crucial to success.

  • When Duke Magna reaches 90% health, he draws all players into the center and summons rings of flame. Contact with these rings locks players in place. At the same time, two Orc Shapeshifters spawn at totems on the east and west sides, and one player is transformed into a sheep.
  • The sheep cannot jump, so your team must coordinate to move the cursed player out of the rings. Assign two players to handle the shapeshifters quickly to break the curse and allow your team to continue damaging Duke Magna.
  • This mechanic repeats when Duke Magna drops to 40% health, but with wider rings of flame, making positioning even more important.
  • When Duke Magna’s health reaches 60-70%, he pulls the players back to the center and triggers the rings of flame again.
  • Two of the totems will glow red. Players must interact with these red totems to disable the mechanic, giving them another damage window. This will occur again when Duke Magna is at 10% health.

Duke Magna cycles through a series of powerful attacks, which your team will need to anticipate and dodge:

A two-part basic attack that ends with a heavy axe slam. Stay close to avoid his more devastating ranged attacks.

A telegraphed spin attack following his Axe Swings. Use this to trigger your defense passives.

Magna calls meteors down on players. Stay together to limit meteor coverage, and dodge as a group.

Causes an arena-wide tremor that knocks down players. Timing your jump is crucial to avoid this.

If any player strays too far, Magna will use a wide AoE eye beam attack that can devastate the entire team. Always stay within his range.

Weapon ComboRoleExplanation
Greatsword / Sword and ShieldTankIdeal for tanking. This setup is durable and allows for efficient damage mitigation during Duke Magna’s mechanics.
Dagger / CrossbowDPSThis melee-focused combo helps avoid the Eye Beam attack while dealing high damage at close range.
Wand / StaffSupportHealers will use this combo to keep the party sustained, while having enough offense to contribute to the fight.

Start the dungeon by defeating the Orc Key Administrator. This miniboss holds the key that activates the pulley system. Avoid its Belly Flop attack to prevent stuns.

After ascending, cross a trap-laden bridge while dealing with orc mobs. Use skills like Fierce Clash from the Sword and Shield to push enemies off the bridge.

Engage the Orc Shadow Elder and its shapeshifters. Focus on eliminating shapeshifters quickly to avoid being transformed into a sheep.

Defeat another Orc Key Administrator and lower the drawbridge. Prepare for a challenging fight in the orc plaza against multiple orc mobs and Shadowmancers.

These enemies are immune to damage unless two players apply crowd control simultaneously. Use the Cursed Nightmare skill from the Wand to keep them vulnerable long enough to kill them.
