NCSoft’s subsidiary, FirstSpark Games, has officially decided to begin development on a mobile version of Throne and Liberty (TL). While the game underperformed in South Korea, it gained traction globally thanks to its partnership with Amazon Games—now, FirstSpark is betting on mobile.
As reported by Money Today Broadcasting (MTN), the studio is preparing a staff reallocation, moving part of the team from the live TL PC service to work on the mobile version.

There was initial speculation that TL producer Park Geon-soo would head the mobile project, but FirstSpark clarified that he will remain focused on the original PC version.

Originally designed as the next PC entry in the Lineage series, TL evolved into a new IP after a long development history and internal restructuring, eventually launching under the name Throne and Liberty.
Despite its underwhelming domestic reception, TL found a second wind internationally in late 2023 with Amazon’s support. With renewed momentum, the studio has opted to focus on Throne and Liberty Mobile instead of pursuing a Chinese market release.

The tentative goal is to complete TL Mobile within two years, mirroring the timeline of past NCSoft mobile titles like Lineage M and Lineage 2M. The development schedule also aligns with the company’s plan for financial independence by its third year after the spinoff.
