In a new video, Tico, the Globalization Design Manager, talked about what’s coming up in the short term at Throne and Liberty. He covered a lot of topics, from server merging to the launch of Talandre. Here is a brief recap of the highlights.
Server consolidation
Server consolidation is, to no one’s surprise, a server merger, but with a prettier name. The merger is intended to maintain a competitive landscape within the servers and expand the pool of people who can play together on each server. It will be a multi-step process:
- Merging auction houses between early access and launch servers
- Free server transfer period, which includes removing the restriction of transfers between early access and launch servers.
- And then finally, the consolidation of existing servers
Servers affected by the merge will be consolidated into new servers instead of merging a server into an existing one. A full article with more details will be published later this week.
Combat
With Talandre expansion, there will be changes to Throne and Liberty combat mechanics, with a focus on improving fluidity and intuitive feel.

- Maintain regular movement speed while attacking
- The functionality that forces your character to face your target when attacking will be eliminated
- Line-of-sight requirements to attack players and monsters
- Movement controls will be consistent both in and out of combat
- Base melee attack range will increase
- Changing from camera-based to character-based relative movement
- Core changes to our targeting system, so you can expect targeting to feel more natural and intuitive when tab-targeting and more responsive and precise when targeting with mouse clicks.
Open World PvP
Changes in the Open World PvP will be focused in Guild vs Guild content, specifically major changes in how field bosses work.

Field bosses will transition from an open world PvP format to a Guild versus Guild format, similar to what you may have experienced in intraserver riftstone battles where two guilds will be matched one versus one in a boss fight.
More details will arrive in February.
T2 Gear
Players will be able to begin acquiring Tier 2 gear at the time Talandre is released. And when that Tier 2 gear does arrive, players will be able to upgrade them all the way to +12 from the onset.
Talandre
There was no release announcement for Talandre expansion but at least now we know when the big reveal will be, make sure to tune the next episode of Eye on Solisium on January 28th.

Other Changes
- Changes to reduce situations that can lead to toxicity, especially in co-op dungeons
- Quality of life improvements like streamlining inventory management for both regular items and runes
- Reduce the current material overload
- We’re expanding the ways you can approach gear progression.
