Throne and Liberty – Business Model

Amazon Games and NCSOFT are thrilled to announce the upcoming release of THRONE AND LIBERTY. As we approach the game’s launch, we aim to keep our community well-informed and up-to-date with the latest developments. Transparency and open communication are our top priorities, especially regarding the in-game store and economy in regions supported by Amazon Games.

While some specifics may evolve during ongoing development, here is an early look at the key aspects of the game’s business model, covering the Economy, Leveling & Battle Passes, and Aesthetics.

Our Core Values

In collaboration with NCSOFT, we have established three fundamental principles to guide the business model for THRONE AND LIBERTY:

  • Player Self-Expression: Players should have the freedom to express themselves within the game.
  • Accessibility: Combat and power upgrades must be accessible to all players.
  • Optional Purchases: While the in-game shop should offer rewarding items, they should never feel necessary for progression.

Key Systems Overview

Currency in THRONE AND LIBERTY

Three main currencies will drive the in-game economy:

  1. Lucent: Obtainable by purchasing with real money, through specific PvP events, or selling items in the Auction House. Additional methods to earn Lucent may be introduced later.
  2. Sollant: Earned through various in-game activities and used for purchasing goods from NPC vendors, crafting, and gear upgrades.
  3. Ornamental Coins: Earned through special in-game activities, promotional events like Twitch Drops, and the Battle Pass free track. These can be spent on cosmetics and progression items.

Auction House

The Auction House serves as the central hub for the player-driven economy, where trades are conducted using Lucent. This system allows players to earn and spend Lucent without necessarily spending real money. The Auction House features a two-tier tax system: a flat system tax and an additional tax set by guilds controlling Castles. This dynamic ensures that Lucent earned through trading can be used universally within the game.

Passes: Leveling and Battle

To cater to diverse playstyles, two types of passes will be available:

  • Leveling Pass: A one-time purchase per character, providing materials and items to enhance leveling. This pass, which includes both free and premium tracks, is designed to enrich the player’s journey from level 1 to level 50 without offering exclusive power-related items.
  • Battle Pass: A monthly recurring purchase, offering a mix of aesthetic rewards, crafting materials, items, and in-game currencies. Available in free and premium tracks, the Battle Pass ensures substantial value and rewards for completing specific challenges.

In-Game Store and Cosmetics

The in-game store allows players to purchase Lucent with real money and offers a variety of cosmetics such as outfits, morphs, emotes, and more. These items are purely aesthetic and do not enhance player power. Our commitment to providing diverse and customizable outfit options ensures that players can fully express their unique styles within the game.

Amazon Games Update

In the regions supported by Amazon Games, the in-game store will not include Sollant, food, or potion consumables. However, consumables for cosmetics like dyes and sewing thread will be available.

Early Access

Players who purchase an Early Access Pack will gain entry into Solisium before the official launch. Early Access Packs, available until the game’s launch, offer up to five days of early access. To maintain fairness, separate Early Access and Launch Servers will be provided, with restrictions on transferring between them initially.

Detailed System Breakdown

Auction House

The Auction House allows players to trade items using Lucent, which can be earned in-game or purchased. This system includes a two-tier tax: a flat system tax and an adjustable guild tax for Castle owners. Players can earn Lucent through PvP events like Castle Sieges and Tax Delivery Events, with more activities to be added.

Only base-level gear can be listed, ensuring players must still engage with the game to upgrade their gear. This system supports various progression tracks, including Weapon Mastery, Skills, Gear Score, and Gear Traits, each with specific limitations on what can be purchased through the Auction House.

Leveling Pass

The Leveling Pass, a one-time purchase per character, offers materials and items to enhance leveling. This pass includes both free and premium tracks and provides rewards for completing relevant game content, enriching the player’s journey from level 1 to level 50.

Battle Pass

The Battle Pass, refreshed monthly, offers aesthetic rewards, crafting materials, items, and in-game currencies for completing challenges. Available in free and premium tracks, it ensures all players can access Battle Pass EXP and rewards.

Looking Ahead

Join us for the Open Beta from July 18 to July 23, where you can create a character, join a guild, and explore Solisium. Your feedback is invaluable as we refine these systems. Stay tuned for more updates as we approach the official launch of THRONE AND LIBERTY.
