Throne and Liberty Fishing Guide

Fishing at Throne and Liberty is not difficult. It may take some practice but once you get the hang of it, it is quite simple. At first it can be a bit frustrating, have some patience and you will see that it is a fairly simple activity.

And if you ask yourself, why fish? To relax obviously, and to get cooking materials as well. Let’s see below how to fish in Throne and Liberty.

How To Get Your First Rod

The first thing you need to start fishing is a rod. You can get the first rod, Bamboo Fishing Rod, in two different ways.

Once you reach approximately level 10 and complete the first contracts, you will get Contract Coins. Collect 300 Contract Coins and buy your first rod in the Contract Coin Manager.

You can also get it completely free during Adventure Codex Chapter 3: Veterans Never Die, as a reward of the appendix: Adventures of the Expedition.

Throne and Liberty Fishing: About Bait

In addition to the rod you will need bait. There are 4 different types of bait: Paste Bait, Worm Bait, Shrimp Bait and Fish Fillet Bait.

How To Get Paste Bait

Paste Bait is the most common bait in Throne and Liberty. You can fish with it, but it won’t help you catch rare fish like the other baits will.

Every day, you can buy 1 Fishing Bait Chest from the Contract Coin Merchant for 20 Contract Coins. This Chest contains 50 Paste Baits. Not bad, but you can only buy 1 per day.

You can also get the same chest for 15 Ornate Coins. I don’t think this is the best use of your Ornate Coins, but it is a possibility.

How To Get Worm Bait

Worm Bait will particularly attract medium-sized fish such as Amberjack, Lanquis Barracuda, Taion Moray Eel.

Get Worm Bait from the Star Trees and Star Fruit Trees that you will find in different areas of Solisium. You can see the locations of Star Trees and Star Fruit Trees in the Interactive Map.

How To Get Shrimp Bait

Shrimp Bait will particularly attract small-sized fish such as Arowana, Banded Butterflyfish, Ballan Wrasse

To get Shrimp Bait you will have to kill enemies in Windhill Shores and Daybreak Shore. Hermit Lobster, Megalobster, Chestacean, Large Stone Crab, Sea Crab, Hermit Crab and Iron Chestacean have a small chance to drop Shrimp Bait. So do not expect to get Shrimp Bait every time you loot one of this mobs, have some patience and keep farming them. Check out the mobs locations in Throne and Liberty Interactive Map.

How To Get Fish Fillet Bait

Fish Fillet Bait will particularly attract large-sized fish such as Solisium Carp, Barracuda, Blacktail Snook.

Obtain Fish Fillet Bait dissolving the fish you have in your inventory, you will also get Uncommon Fish Oil in the process.

How To Catch Fish

Now you have your rod and your bait, let’s catch a fish. Fishing is not particularly difficult in Throne and Liberty, but it has its tricks. Approach a sea or river shore, equip your rod and bait by clicking on them, in your hot bar you will see a button to equip and stow the rod.

You will see a blue dot appear in the water, there is where you will cast your fishing line with the F key. From that point an area is created in which you will have to keep the fish to hurt it and catch it, imagine it this way.

When a fish takes the bait, the mini-game starts. Two bars will appear, a red one (the fish’s hp) and a green one (your stamina), and a light will appear above the fish in the water. Use your stamina to keep the fish inside the imaginary green zone, preventing it from moving sideways. You will see that the light on the fish is green inside the center zone and turns red if it leaves the area.

If the fish moves to the right, use the A key to drag it to the left, if it moves to the left, use the D key to drag it to the right. Once the fish loses all its HP, you will catch it. And that’s it! Check out the video below to see how it’s done, I was indeed fishing wrong until I saw it.
