Kowazan Boss Mechanics in Throne & Liberty
Kowazan utilizes multiple poison mechanics that may seem overwhelming at first but are manageable with the right strategy. Here’s a detailed breakdown of each attack and how to handle it.
Basic Attacks
Throughout the encounter, Kowazan will execute a mix of melee, ranged, and jumping attacks, usually targeting the player with aggro (preferably a tank). Make sure your tank holds aggro to absorb these attacks effectively.
Fury Attack
Like other bosses in Throne & Liberty, Kowazan has a Fury Attack. This attack is marked by a purple indicator. Block at the right moment to avoid taking damage. If you fail to block, Kowazan will execute a lunging attack, causing significant damage.
Poison AOE
Kowazan throws poison knives on the ground, creating small poison AOE zones. Move out of these areas to avoid taking poison damage.
Poison Fan
Kowazan releases a fan of poison knives in all directions, damaging any players hit by it. Stay at a safe distance to avoid getting hit by this wide-reaching attack.
Poison Curse
In this mechanic, Kowazan targets multiple players with a poison curse, indicated by a green knife floating above them. The curse causes increasing poison damage over time. To mitigate this, affected players should touch unaffected players, spreading the poison and reducing its damage. Trying to manage the poison alone can be lethal, as the damage will increase the longer you carry it.
Poison Wave
Kowazan shouts and creates a large poison AOE on the ground. Avoid this area immediately. During Poison Wave, multiple players will receive the Poison Curse simultaneously, but with fewer unaffected players to spread it to. Additionally, the entire raid will be feared and forced to run away from Kowazan, stunning players briefly. This mechanic can be lethal if players are stunned at an inopportune time, but it’s usually manageable if other mechanics are handled well.
